Acupuncture Group:First, the patients took a supine position and wore eye masks. The acupoints selected in the supine position were: Baihui (GV20), Yintang (EX-HN3), Neiguan (PC6, bilateral), Hegu (LI
for Yintang (EX-HN3), the needle was inserted by pinching the skin, with the needle tip pointing to the nasal tip transversely, and the insertion depth was 0.3-0.5 cun
for Neiguan (PC6), the needle was inserted vertically into the skin, with a depth of 0.5-1.0 cun
for Hegu (LI4), the needle was inserted vertically slightly toward the palm, with an insertion depth of 0.5-1.0 cun
for Taichong (LR3), the needle was inserted vertically slightly toward the sole of the foot, with an insertion depth of 0.5-0.8 cun
for Qimen (LR14), the needle was inserted along the intercostal space at an angle of about 30° with the skin, pointing to the outside or the upper edge of the rib, with a depth of 0.3-0.5 cun
for Yinlingquan (SP9), the needle was inserted vertically into the skin, with a depth of 1.0-2.0 cun
for Zusanli (ST36), the needle was inserted vertically into the skin, slightly toward the tibia, with a depth of 1.0-2.0 cun

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) meeting the above-mentioned diagnostic criteria of traditional Chinese and Western medicine; 2) aged 18 to 65 years; 3) HAMD-17 score between 8 and 24 points, with a suicide factor score = 2 points; 4) voluntarily participating in this study and signing the informed consent form; 5) no change in antidepressant regimen/dosage within 8 weeks before the start of the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Complicated with suicidal ideation, having suicidal or self-harm tendencies; 2) Clearly diagnosed with intellectual disability, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, alcohol or drug dependence, or other mental disorders before enrollment; 3) Having received acupuncture or electroacupuncture treatment within the past 6 months; 4) Being pregnant, preparing for pregnancy, lactating, or planning to become pregnant in the near future (within 2 months); 5) Complicated with malignant tumors, severe complications of the liver, kidneys, heart, brain, or respiratory system, or severe hematological diseases; 6) Complicated with heart problems, such as cardiac stent implantation, cardiac pacemaker implantation, myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, coronary heart disease, and other heart-related diseases; 7) Having metal allergies, severe fear of acupuncture, ulcers, pustules, skin infections, or other lesions at the acupuncture sites, or having a cardiac pacemaker implanted; 8) Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA) score > 7 points.
