Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Western Medicine Diagnostic Criteria The diagnostic criteria were based on the Criteria for Diagnosis and Therapeutic Effect of Diseases and Syndromes in Traditional Chinese Medicine with reference to low back pain. The diagnostic features included: 1.A history of exposure to cold and dampness, lumbar trauma, or chronic strain. 2.Clinical manifestations of low back pain accompanied by limited lumbar mobility, with pain possibly radiating to the buttocks and lower extremities. 3.Physical examination findings such as scoliosis, alteration or loss of the normal lumbar physiological curvature, and positive paraspinal tenderness upon percussion over the affected lumbar region. 4.Imaging findings: X-ray examination may reveal scoliosis, loss of lumbar lordosis, narrowing of the affected intervertebral disc space, and osteophyte formation at adjacent vertebral margins. Computed tomography (CT) can clearly demonstrate the location and extent of lumbar disc herniation. Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Differentiation Criteria Syndrome differentiation was performed according to the Criteria for Diagnosis and Therapeutic Effect of Diseases and Syndromes in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Patients diagnosed with cold-dampness type low back pain were included in this study. Clinical features included pronounced cold pain in the lumbar region, difficulty with turning or movement, a subjective sensation of coldness in the limbs, pain not relieved by rest, and symptom aggravation upon exposure to cold or during rainy and damp weather. Tongue manifestations included a pale tongue body with a white and greasy coating, and pulse characteristics were described as deep and tight or soft and moderate. Inclusion Criteria 1.Patients meeting the above diagnostic criteria for low back pain; 2.Diagnosis consistent with the cold-dampness type low back pain according to traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation; 3.Age between 21 and 76 years; 4.No concurrent use of other therapeutic interventions during the study period; 5.Voluntary participation in the study with written informed consent provided.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded if they: (1) had low back pain caused by other diseases such as tumors, spinal canal stenosis, or tuberculosis; (2) had a history of lumbar spine surgery; (3) had cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases or other severe comorbidities; (4) had psychiatric disorders or were unable to cooperate with treatment; (5) were menstruating or pregnant and therefore unsuitable for the intervention; (6) were receiving analgesics or other pharmacological treatments; or (7) were undergoing other therapeutic interventions such as traditional Chinese medicine or acupuncture.
