Interventions

Acupuncture group:Insert disposable acupuncture needles into the following acupoints: MS6, Zhongwan(RN12), Qihai(RN6), Tianshu(ST25), Daheng(SP15), Zusanli(ST36), Sanyinjiao( SP6), and Fenglong(ST40).
Control group:The control group received sham acupuncture, involving non-penetrating needling of the same acupoints using Streitberger blunt acupuncture needles, administered twice weekly for a 12-wee

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Central obesity patients aged 18–65 years: waist circumference >=90 cm for males, >=85 cm for females, BMI: 25–32.5 kg/m², no gender restriction. Healthy subjects: BMI 18.5 kg/m² <= BMI <= 23.9 kg/m², no significant weight change in the past 6 months, waist circumference: <85 cm for males, <80 cm for females, no history of metabolic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, or dyslipidemia. (2) Sign informed consent and voluntarily undergo acupuncture treatment and related examinations. (3) Not currently participating in other weight-loss drug or method treatments.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Pregnant or lactating women; (2) Individuals with bleeding tendencies, skin lesions, or contraindications to acupuncture; (3) Those with known organic neurological disorders (e.g., brain tumors, cerebral vascular malformations, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, intracranial aneurysms) or history of brain surgery; (4) Individuals with clinically significant brain structural abnormalities identified during fMRI screening scans (researchers will make determinations in consultation with radiologists); (5) Individuals with severe psychiatric disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, major bipolar disorder, depression); (6) Secondary obesity: endocrine disorders (e.g., Cushing's syndrome, hypothyroidism, polycystic ovary syndrome); Long-term use of hormonal medications (e.g., glucocorticoids, antipsychotics); (7) Presence of metallic implants or conditions such as claustrophobia that preclude MRI examination; (8) Use of weight-loss medications or meal replacements within the past 3 months; prior weight-loss surgery; (9) Current participation in other clinical trials.
