Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) Meets both Western medical diagnostic criteria for KOA and criteria for blood stasis obstruction syndrome (Western medical criteria: refer to the 1995 American College of Rheumatology revised international diagnostic criteria for knee osteoarthritis, including 1) knee pain present most of the time during the past month; 2) radiographic evidence of osteophyte formation; 3) Synovial fluid analysis consistent with osteoarthritis (clear, viscous, white blood cell count <2×10^9/L); 4) Age =40 years; 5) Morning stiffness <30 minutes; 6) Crepitus during joint movement. Diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis requires presence of 1) and 2), or 1) and 3), 5), 6), or 1), 4), 5), 6). TCM Diagnostic Criteria: Refer to the 2012 edition of the Chinese Industry Standard for Traditional Chinese Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment Efficacy Criteria ZY/T001.1-94 (China Traditional Chinese Medicine Press): 1) Stabbing pain in the knee joint with localized tenderness; 2) Restricted knee joint mobility; 3) Dark purple tongue with deep or fine-thready pulse. (3) Age 40–75 years; (4) Radiographic grading of knee osteoarthritis as Kellgren-Lawrence Grade I–III; (5) Disease duration =10 years with recent onset of knee functional impairment; (6) Patients conscious and able to understand and complete questionnaires; (7) Voluntary participation in this trial with signed informed consent; (8) Full legal capacity.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1)Lesions with skin ulceration, infection, or other conditions unsuitable for acupuncture treatment; (2)Knee issues caused by other diseases; (3)Severe cardiovascular diseases, severe infections, mental disorders, or tumors; (4)Use of other treatment methods within the past month, which may affect the evaluation of treatment efficacy; (5)Individuals who have undergone knee joint surgery; (6)Pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding women.
