Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) The patient meets the diagnostic criteria for functional constipation according to Rome IV. (2) Patient age: 60 to 85 years. (3) No constipation medications (except emergency treatment) have been used for at least 2 weeks prior to enrollment, no abdominal massage therapy for constipation in the past 3 months, and no participation in other ongoing clinical studies. (4) The patient is in stable condition with intact abdominal skin, free of damage, edema, etc. (5) Signed informed consent and voluntary participation in this study. (6) Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation aligns with the Yang-deficient constipation pattern as defined in the "Expert Consensus on TCM Diagnosis and Treatment of Constipation (2017)." Patients who meet all six criteria above may be included in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Patients diagnosed with obstructive constipation. (2) Diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome. (3) Individuals with coagulation dysfunction or those who have been consistently taking anticoagulant drugs. (4) Patients diagnosed with abdominal tumors, having organic lesions in the abdomen, or with a history of open abdominal surgery. (5) Patients with constipation secondary to organic diseases, endocrine disorders, metabolic disorders, neurological disorders, postoperative conditions, or medications. (6) Patients with severe heart, liver, or kidney damage, cognitive dysfunction, aphasia, mental disorders, or those who are unable to cooperate with examinations and treatments. (7) Patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm, abnormal enlargement of liver and spleen, etc. Anyone who meets any of the above criteria will be excluded.
