Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Malaysian citizen Age 35 to 65 Able to read and write in Malay or English language Controlled hypertension on stable medication regimen for = 8 weeks prior to randomization [systolic BP (SBP) = 140 mmHg and/or diastolic BP (DBP) = 90 mmHg]

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Uncontrolled hypertension [systolic BP (SBP) > 140 mmHg and/or diastolic BP (DBP) > 90 mmHg] Diagnosed hyperlipidemia (total cholesterol = 5.2 mmol/L or on lipid-lowering medication) Diagnosed diabetes (HbA1c = 6.3%, or on antidiabetic medication) Unstable medical conditions (e.g. Inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease) Having history of major cardiovascular events Involved in other clinical trials in the past 1 months before randomization Allergic to garlic Pregnant women
