Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1: Meeting the diagnostic criteria for metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease; 2: Age between 18 and 60 years old, regardless of gender; 3: Liver function within the normal range and up to three times the upper limit of normal; 4: No use of liver-protective drugs, lipid-lowering drugs, or drugs for treating fatty liver within 4 weeks; 5: Voluntary participation in the trial, able to tolerate acupoint embedding therapy, and signing the informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1: Suspected liver and biliary diseases due to other causes based on medical history and laboratory tests, including but not limited to: hepatitis B or C virus infection, chronic alcoholic liver disease, drug-induced liver disease, autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, Wilson's disease, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, liver cancer, etc. Those with a history of liver hemangioma, liver calcification, or liver tumors; 2: Excessive alcohol consumption for 3 months or more within 1 year before screening (men averaging more than 30 grams of ethanol per day, equivalent to 3.75 units of alcohol; women more than 20 grams, equivalent to 2.5 units of alcohol: 1 unit = 285 mL of beer, or 25 mL of spirits, or 100 mL of wine); 3: Type 1 diabetes patients and uncontrolled type 2 diabetes patients (HbA1c = 9.5%); 4: Severe liver and kidney dysfunction; 5: Suffering from severe skin diseases, diabetic complications, or having low absorption and repair functions of the skin or subcutaneous tissue due to various diseases; 6: Currently taking drugs that may cause steatosis or steatohepatitis (including amiodarone, methotrexate, hormones, tetracycline, tamoxifen, steroids, valproic acid, etc.); 7: Taking GLP-1 receptor agonists (including liraglutide, albiglutide, dulaglutide, lixisenatide, semaglutide, benaglutide, etc.), thiazolidinedione insulin sensitizers (including rosiglitazone, pioglitazone, troglitazone, ciglitazone, englitazone, etc.), weight loss drugs (including but not limited to sibutramine, orlistat), and new drugs shown to potentially improve steatohepatitis (including but not limited to obeticholic acid, Elafibranor, vitamin E, etc.) within 90 days before randomization; 8: Allergic constitution and keloid constitution; 9: Having severe primary diseases of the heart, lungs, kidneys, etc.; 10: Abnormal coagulation function or having a tendency to bleed; 11: Pregnant or lactating women; 12: Having mental disorders or language communication disorders; 13: Patients with contraindications for MRI scans.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
change of liver fat density;

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Indicators related to metabolic abnormalities: lipid metabolism (triglycerides, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, very low-density lipoprotein); glucose metabolism (fasting plasma glucose [FPG], fasting insulin, HbA1c, HOMA-IR), residual cholesterol (RC), total bile acid;;Liver function assessment indicators: liver function (alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, ?-glutamyltranspeptidase, alkaline phosphatase); hepatic steatosis index (HSI), FIB-4 index;;Inflammation indicator: Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR);use proton density fat fraction to measure change in liver fat density, subcutaneous fat and visceral fat;Number of people with significant relief;
