18 Years to 45 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) Age between 18 and 45 years; (2) BMI greater than 25 kg/m2; (3) Insulin resistance; (4) Diagnosed with PCOS based on the 2018 Rotterdam PCOS diagnostic criteria; (5) No plans to become pregnant during the study and agrees to use effective non-hormonal contraception; (6) Voluntarily participate in the study and sign an informed consent form.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Hyperandrogenism caused by or associated with other diseases, such as Cushing's syndrome, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, hyperprolactinemia, thyroid dysfunction, etc.; (2) Menopause and perimenopause, breastfeeding; (3) Weight loss greater than 5 kilograms in the past 6 months; (4) A history of malignant tumors within the last 5 years or current malignant tumors, history of gallstones/gout; (5) Diagnosis of an eating disorder or exclusionary behavior (such as vomiting) as reported by the patient or diagnosed through the Eating Disorder Inventory, 3 Referral Form (EDI-3 RF) within the past 12 months; (6) Use of the following medications in the past 3 months, unless the patient has reached a discontinuation agreement with the research team and has been off the medication for 4-8 weeks; these medications include: oral hormonal contraceptives and hormone-releasing implants, anti-androgens (such as spironolactone, flutamide, finasteride), other insulin sensitizers except metformin, clomiphene citrate or estrogen modulators, gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) modulators (such as leuprolide), anti-androgens (such as spironolactone, flutamide, finasteride), minoxidil, anti-obesity drugs or other medications that may affect appetite (such as oral steroids); (7) Patients with a clear allergy or intolerance to acupuncture or acupoint embedding.
