Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) Meet the diagnostic criteria for abdominal obesity and be confirmed as having abdominal obesity; (2) Meet the diagnostic criteria for metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) as defined by the *Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Metabolic (Non-alcoholic) Fatty Liver Disease (2024 Edition)*; (3) Age: 18–60 years; (4) Sign informed consent and voluntarily agree to participate in the intervention program. Note: Only patients who meet all four criteria above will be included in this study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) Patients with liver diseases other than MAFLD including alcoholic viral hepatitis-related or autoimmune-related fatty liver disease with clear etiologies as well as severe fatty liver with ascites or cirrhosis; (2) Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) level >250 U/L; (3) Participation in a weight-loss program within the past 3 months use of medications or surgeries affecting body weight or energy balance history of major diseases (e.g. malignancy) or pregnancy/lactation; (4) Severe depression psychosis panic disorder substance abuse or somatization disorder; (5) Concurrent participation in other clinical trials that may interfere with efficacy evaluation; (6) Local skin lesions or impaired temperature sensation at the treatment site severe Yin deficiency with fire hyperactivity (Yin Xu Huo Wang) or excessive heat syndrome (Shi Re Zheng) or allergy to ginger juice or moxa smoke; (7) Comorbidities that are poorly controlled or extremely severe such as persistent pain of any cause malignancy cardiovascular/cerebrovascular diseases neuroendocrine disorders neuromuscular diseases or gastrointestinal disorders. Note: Patients meeting any one of the above criteria will be excluded.
