Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for individuals with etomidate addiction and comorbid depression: 1) Meet the ICD-10 diagnostic criteria for mental and behavioral disorders due to use of sedatives or hypnotics. 2) Hamilton Depression Rating Scale ( HAMD-24) score = 8. 3) Exclusive etomidate abuser (tobacco use permitted); no history of dependence on other substances, including cocaine, alcohol, opioids, or barbiturates. 4) Aged 16–45 years. 5) Abstinent from etomidate for > 3 months. 6) No use of any psychoactive or therapeutic medication during the abstinence period. 7) Provide voluntary informed consent to participate in the study. Inclusion criteria for healthy adults: 1)Aged 16–45 years; 2)Provide voluntary informed consent to participate in the study; 3)Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-24) score < 8.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for individuals with etomidate addiction comorbid with depression: 1) Any psychoactive-substance dependence other than etomidate or nicotine; 2) Severe medical illness requiring hospitalization or frequent outpatient visits; 3) Use of medications that affect hemodynamics, such as insulin or thyroid agents; 4) History of head injury with loss of consciousness or other neurological disorders (e.g., Parkinson's disease, stroke); 5) Other psychiatric disorders, including bipolar disorder. Exclusion criteria for healthy adults: 1) Severe medical illness requiring hospitalization or frequent outpatient visits; 2) Use of medications that affect hemodynamics, such as insulin or thyroid agents; 3) History of head injury with loss of consciousness or other neurological disorders (e.g., Parkinson's disease, stroke); 4) Other psychiatric disorders, including bipolar disorder.
