Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Eligible infants will be those with gestational age (GA) 26 to 42 weeks at birth who are admitted to a participating NICU during the study enrollment period and are scheduled to receive a medically necessary heel prick (Trial 1), PIV needle placement (Trial 2), or eye exam for ROP (Trial 3) procedure while at < 30 days of life or < 44 weeks corrected GA. Parents will be approached for consent and only infants whose parents provide consent will be included.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Infants will be excluded if they are receiving sedatives, opioids, or muscle relaxants or are critically ill or dying.
