Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients aged 18 and 80 yearsASA physical status 1-3, scheduled for elective VATS for wedge resection, lobectomy, bi-lobectomy, pneumonectomy and esophagectomy.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: preoperative cardiac arrhythmia, any previous thoracic surgery, heart failure, history of sleep disorders and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a need for postoperative non-invasive ventilation, abnormal hepatic or renal function, coagulopathy, electrolyte disturbance, thyroid dysfunction, and mental impairment. Antiarrhythmic drugs included ß-Receptor blocks, digitalis, and calcium-channel antagonists were prohibited from use for a minimum of 3 days before the surgery.
