Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Children aged 8-10 years 2. Children with at least 2 bilateral carious first primary molars indicated for pulpotomy 3. Children require serial extraction of first primary molars for orthodontic reasons

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Children with systematic diseases and/or allergies to the anesthetic agents 2. Children with clinical and radiographical signs of pulp necrosis in the targeted teeth and/or unrestorable teeth 3. Children with nocturnal and/or spontaneous pain

The following primary outcomes will be measured using histology after 7, 30, and 90 days: 1. Odontoblastic integrity 2. Pulp tissue hemorrhage 3. Pulp fibrosis 4. Dentin bridge formation 5. Pulp calcification
