Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 92 patients admitted to three hospitals in Newcastle upon Tyne were randomised to early supported discharge or conventional care. To be eligible for entry patients had to: 1. Be living at home prior to the stroke 2. Not be too severely disabled 3. Not have any other condition that might preclude rehabilitation
