1. Patients in the Total Hip Arthroplasty group will have the head of their femur removed and replaced with a prosthetic component fixed inside the femoral shaft
2. Patients in the Hip Resurfacing Art

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Over the age of 18 2. Able to give informed consent 3. Eligible for hip resurfacing arthroplasty
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients with a concomitant medical problem that will preclude operation.
