Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Elective coronary artery bypass and uncomplicated aortic root surgery through a median sternotomy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal, pre-existing lung disease, mitral valve disease, known pulmonary hypertension, chronic renal failure, morbid obesity or emergency surgery.
