Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. The onset of first ischaemic stroke between 2 and 8 weeks prior to randomisation. 2. A mean brachial blood pressure (BP) level measured on 2 different occasions a week apart between 140/90 mmHg and 180/110 mmHg. 3. The presence of sinus rhythm. 4. Age >18 years
