Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 25 patients with osteo-arthritis of the knee between the age of 60-75 years in each arm of the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients outside 60-75 years 2. Valgus knee > 20 degrees 3. Any vascular compromise which would lead to a decision not to use a tourniquet 4. Any haematology condition which increases the risk of bleeding
