Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Interviews in WP2, 3 and 4: participants over 18 years old only Staff interviews in WP2 and WP3: ambulance clinicians from each of the three ambulance sites and with Emergency Department (ED) staff from six EDs, including senior clinicians, ED co-ordinators and other roles that are identified as being key to understanding pre-alerts Survey in WP2: any ambulance clinicians within the 10 Regional Ambulance Services Patient and carer interviews in WP4: patients and their carers who were pre-alerted on their journey to hospital
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients or staff who do not speak English 2. Patients or staff who are under 18 years old
