Interventions

Intervention group: The study will involve the implementation of a supportive-educational intervention based on the Cooper Care Model. This intervention will include two face-to-face training sessions

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The patient must have stage III or IV colorectal cancer. The caregiver must be over 18 years old and under 60 years old. The caregiver must not be a healthcare professional. The caregiver must be able to read and write in Persian. The caregiver must not be simultaneously participating in another similar study. The caregiver must not be providing care at the same time for another person with a chronic illness. The caregiver must have no physical, mental, or psychological problems and must not be taking psychiatric medications. The individual must be designated by the patient as the primary caregiver. The individual must be willing to participate in the study. The patient must be receiving palliative care. The caregiver must be the patient’s father, mother, sister, brother, spouse, or child. The caregiver must be able to use social media/virtual networks.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Death of the patient or the primary caregiver. Failure to attend an educational session. Change of the primary caregiver.

To compare the mean anticipatory grief and resilience scores between the intervention and control groups before the intervention, immediately after the intervention, and one month after the intervention. Timepoint: before the intervention, immediately after the intervention, and one month after the intervention. Method of measurement: Anticipatory grief will be assessed using the Holms et al. Anticipatory Grief Questionnaire, and caregivers’ resilience will be measured using the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale.	—
