Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease according to a neurologist and having undergone bilateral STN-DBS surgery Willingness to participate voluntarily in the study and provide informed consent Being monolingual in Persian or predominantly Persian-speaking Having normal or corrected hearing and vision Age between 20 and 75 years Sufficient cognitive ability and awareness to participate in therapy sessions based on MoCA assessment No history of stroke or head and brain injury No history of laryngeal disorders such as nodules or polyps No psychiatric disorders No other neurological diseases including stroke, traumatic brain injury, or dementias such as Alzheimer's disease Minimum literacy in reading and writing (primary school level) No history of speech therapy in the past three months

MeasureTime frame
Voice intensity: The loudness of speech produced by the Parkinson’s patient, measured using Praat software in decibels.Speech rate: The number of words or syllables spoken per unit of time by the patient, calculated using a specified formula.Speech clarity: The intelligibility of the patient’s speech under standardized conditions, calculated based on a specified formula. Timepoint: Speech outcomes are measured at three time points: before the intervention, immediately after the intervention, and six weeks post-intervention. Method of measurement: Voice Intensity: The loudness of the sound produced by the Parkinson’s patient, measured using Praat software in decibels. Speech Rate: The number of words or syllables spoken per unit of time by the patient, calculated using a specific formula. Speech Clarity: The comprehensibility of the patient’s speech under standard conditions, calculated based on a specific formula.

Voice Handicap Severity: Patient-reported assessment of voice problems using the Voice Handicap Index (VHI) questionnaire. Maximum Phonation Time: The longest duration a patient can sustain a single sound on one exhalation, measured using Praat software. Frequency Range: The lowest and highest frequencies a patient can produce, measured using Praat software. UPDRS Score: Assessment of Parkinson’s disease severity and progression using the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS). Timepoint: At baseline before the start of the intervention, immediately after the end of the treatment program, and six weeks after the end of treatment. Method of measurement: Disease severity will be measured using the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS), voice impairment will be assessed using the self-reported Voice Handicap Index (VHI) questionnaire, and cognitive status will be evaluated using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA).
