Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Cooperative patients (Frankl’s behavior rating scale 3 or 4) With normal occlusion No appliances in the mouth Patients with clinical features of gingivitis Grade 1 and higher (Gingival Index Loe and Sillness, 1963) Patients with dental plaque Grade 1 and higher (Plaque Index Sillness and Loe, 1964)
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Uncooperative children (Frankl’s behavior rating scale 1 or 2) Children who were medically at risk The presence of systemic disease, need for special health care and a history of long-term use of medications Children with rampant or cervical caries or pathological changes of the oral mucosa Children who had used any type of antibacterial mouthwash in the 4 weeks before the study Children who had a history of known allergy to any of the ingredients in mouthwashes
