Conditions

White spot lesion. Dental caries limited to enamel, non-cavitated lesions, including white spot lesions, commonly observed after fixed orthodontic treatment. These lesions represent early demineralization of enamel without formation of a cavity.

Interventions

Intervention 1: Intervention group 1: Cobalt resin infiltration is applied on the lesions, the chemical composition of which is based on triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) with a special solve
then the surface is dried with 99% alcohol, and the resin is applied in an appropriate amount on the lesion and allowed to penetrate for 3 minutes

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals who underwent fixed orthodontic treatment and had no lesions prior to the treatment. Individuals who developed white spot lesions on the smooth surfaces of their teeth after the removal of orthodontic brackets. At least two symmetrical teeth presenting with white spot lesions Lesions classified as mild to moderate based on the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Lesions that have become cavitated Presence of any developmental enamel defects such as enamel hypoplasia, fluorosis, or amelogenesis imperfecta Presence of any composite restorations, veneers, or crowns on the teeth under study

MeasureTime frame
Size of white lesions. Timepoint: Before the intervention, Immediately after the intervention and one month following the completion of the intervention. Method of measurement: Standardized digital photography combined with a five-point Likert scale for visual assessment.
