Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who are seeking upper eyelid blepharoplasty for the first time

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with previous upper eyelid blepharoplasty, patients with myasthenia gravis, ptosis, a history of eyelid trauma or surgery, lagophthalmos, upper eyelid fat herniation, skin or eyelid infection, any eyelid asymmetry, metallic implants in the eyelid, treatment with botulinum toxin within four months prior to surgery, pregnancy.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Changes in eyelid function; changes in orbicularis oculi muscle activity assessed by electromyography (EMG); changes in eyebrow position. Timepoint: Before surgery and 3 months after surgery. Method of measurement: Electromyography (EMG) to assess orbicularis oculi muscle activity, clinical examination to evaluate eyelid function, and measurement of eyebrow position.
