Inclusion criteria: Candidates for total knee arthroplasty
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Presence of any type of diabetes mellitus Presence of a local infection near the surgical site Presence of systemic infection Presence of immunodeficiency disorders Presence of malignant diseases History of radiotherapy or chemotherapy Use of immunosuppressive medications History of surgery on the ipsilateral knee Known allergy to povidone-iodine Presence of skin rash or dermatological lesions at the surgical site Use of antibiotics within one month prior to hospital admission

| Microbial load at the surgical site (CFU/mL) after the use of iodine-impregnated and conventional sterile drapes. Timepoint: After 24 hours of incubation, the number of colonies grown on each 8-cm blood agar plate was counted and recorded in the microbial count form. Method of measurement: Colony counting was performed manually by placing the inverted plate on a white gridded surface and counting the colonies by marking the grid squares.;Incidence of surgical site infection following the use of iodine-impregnated and conventional sterile drapes.
