Interventions

Intervention 1: The intervention group will receive electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) combined with standard antipsychotic pharmacotherapy. The ECT protocol consists of 6 sessions (3 sessions per week)

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Diagnosis of methamphetamine-induced psychosis Age 18-65 years Severe psychotic symptoms No response to initial pharmacotherapy (=72 hours) Written informed consent from patient or legal guardian No contraindications for Electroconvulsive Therapy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Presence of acute or unstable medical conditions. Any absolute medical contraindication to the study interventions. Coexisting psychiatric disorders that could confound clinical assessment. requirement for immediate specific intervention.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The total score of the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). Timepoint: Before the intervention, week 2, week 4, and week 6 after the end of the intervention. Method of measurement: Assessment with Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) by trained psychiatrist in controlled setting.
