Interventions

Intervention 1: Intervention group: Patients received 400 mg of coenzyme Q10 (100 mg capsule every 6 hours sublingually) and 400 IU of vitamin E daily for 7 days. Intervention 2: Control group: Placeb

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with traumatic brain injury with GCS between 9 and 12 Presence of diffuse axonal injury on CT scan Candidate for non-surgical treatment Hospitalization for more than 7 days Informed consent to enter the study In patients with mental retardation: Provide full explanation to legal guardian or first-degree relative and obtain consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with GCS = 8 or = 13 Patients unable to feed orally Patients with a history of acute or chronic kidney disease Patients undergoing hemodialysis Patients with pneumonia Pregnant individuals Patients taking omega-3, coenzyme Q10, vitamin E, or other antioxidants Patients whose expected length of stay is less than 7 days Patients with impaired consciousness due to non-traumatic causes Patients who do not consent to the study for any reason

Total antioxidant capacity. Timepoint: First day, seventh day. Method of measurement: Ferric iron reduction method.
