Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The outcome variable is the empowerment of family members (primary caregivers) of adolescents aged 11-19 years with common adolescent mental disorders, including anxiety disorders, depressive and bipolar disorders, conduct disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, eating disorders, substance abuse disorders, whose diagnosis has been confirmed by a psychiatrist and at least one year has passed since the diagnosis of the disorder. Family empowerment refers to scores from the Korn et al. Family Empowerment Scale (FES), which consists of 34 items and 3 subscales: family (12 questions), service systems (12 questions), and social/political (10 questions) and is used to assess the empowerment of parents of children with sensory disabilities. The questionnaire is scored on a 5-point Likert scale, ranging from completely false (1 point) to completely true (5 points). The minimum possible score is 34 and the maximum score is 170, with higher scores indicating greater family empowerment. Timepoint: The Korn et al. Family Empowerment Scale is completed at the first meeting with participants in both the intervention and control groups. Two weeks after the end of the intervention (6 weeks after the first meeting), a post-test is administered by completing the same scale for both groups. Method of measurement: Family Empowerment Scale – Koren, et al.
