Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age 18 years or older Clinical diagnosis of gingivitis with signs of inflammation Gingival Index (GI) equal to or greater than 2 Bleeding on Probing (BOP) in at least 10% of sites No known hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine ASA physical status classification I or maximum II

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Consumption of anti-inflammatory or antibiotic drugs within the past three months Pregnancy Smoking

Mean change in periodontal probing depth (in millimeters) measured using a Michigan periodontal probe at four sites per tooth. Measurements are taken at three time points: before treatment, one month after treatment, and two months after treatment. Timepoint: Baseline (Before treatment): Two weeks after scaling and root planing. One-month follow-up: One month after starting chlorhexidine gel application. Two-month follow-up: Two months after starting chlorhexidine gel application. Method of measurement: Michigan periodontal probe with millimeter grading.;Mean change in Gingival Index (on a 0-3 scale) assessing gingival inflammation.
