Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Age range of 16-18 years and residing in Tehran. Scoring one standard deviation above the mean on the Social Phobia Inventory (SPIN) and one standard deviation above the mean on the PHQ-9, indicating the presence of social anxiety disorder and depressive symptoms based on the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Age Children-Present and Lifetime Version Exclusion of other diagnoses, including specific phobias, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), selective mutism, separation anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, autism spectrum disorder based on the K-SADS-PL interview, and exclusion of Avoidant Personality Disorder based on the SCID-PD using the avoidant personality section Absence of active suicidal or homicidal ideation, current diagnosis of active substance use disorder, or diagnosis of a psychotic disorder. No major academic failure, including repeating a grade level in the past two years, based on school records. Absence of a psychotic parent with a history of psychiatric hospitalization in the last 6 months, or parental education level below the 9th grade, as assessed by student records, inquiries with the school counselor, and screening questions in the K-SADS-PL interview.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Failure to attend at least two therapy sessions. Presence of an acute physical illness that prevents regular participation in therapy sessions.*(Note: Inclusion and exclusion criteria are typically similar in efficacy and effectiveness studies.)*
