Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age between 18 and 65 years Candidates for elective surgery requiring intubation and laryngoscopy ASA physical status class I and II Written informed consent for participation No contraindication to lidocaine or oxytocin No known allergy to standard anesthetic agents Systolic blood pressure >90 mmHg and heart rate >60 bpm

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pregnancy History of cardiovascular diseases (e.g. arrhythmia or tachycardia) Chronic respiratory diseases Neurological disorders Hepatic or renal disease History of substance abuse or stimulant use Anticipated difficult intubation (e.g. short neck, large tongue, small jaw) Known allergy to lidocaine or oxytocin

MeasureTime frame
Change in patients' systolic blood pressure following endotracheal intubation. Timepoint: Systolic blood pressure will be measured before administration of intervention, immediately before endotracheal intubation, and at one, three, and five minutes after intubation. Method of measurement: Systolic blood pressure will be measured using a non-invasive hospital-grade blood pressure monitor.;Change in patients' diastolic blood pressure following endotracheal intubation. Timepoint: Before intervention, immediately before intubation, and at one, three, and five minutes after intubation. Method of measurement: Measured using a non-invasive hospital-grade blood pressure monitor.;Change in patients' heart rate following endotracheal intubation. Timepoint: Before intervention, immediately before intubation, and at one, three, and five minutes after intubation. Method of measurement: Measured using hospital electrocardiographic heart rate monitor.

Occurrence of cardiac arrhythmias following endotracheal intubation in patients receiving lidocaine or oxytocin. Timepoint: From the beginning of intervention up to five minutes after intubation. Method of measurement: Continuous monitoring using hospital electrocardiographic system.;Change in mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) following endotracheal intubation. Timepoint: Before intervention, immediately before intubation, and at one, three, and five minutes after intubation. Method of measurement: Calculated from systolic and diastolic values measured using a non-invasive monitor.
