Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age of at least 18 years old Corneal epithelial defect without any change in size, despite adequate treatment over past two weeks , ultimately necessitating amniotic membrane graft

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Any sign of active corneal infiltration/keratitis or vision-threatening situations Non-evaluable corneal epithelial defect size due to large tarsorrhaphy Lack of patient consent to participate in the study

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Corneal epithelial defect size. Timepoint: Measurement of corneal epithelial defect size at baseline (before initiation of the intervention) and on days 3, 6, 9, 12, and 24 after administration of insulin eye drops. Method of measurement: Using a slit lamp after staining with fluorescein paper and cobalt blue light, reporting in mm2.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Visual acuity. Timepoint: Measurement of Visual acuity at baseline (before initiation of the intervention) and on days 3, 6, 9, 12, and 24 after administration of eye drops. Method of measurement: Snellen chart.
