| One-year incidence of dental caries in students with autism spectrum disorder. Timepoint: Dental caries at baseline, 6 and 12 months after the start of the intervention. Method of measurement: Caries scoreCaries are scored using the DMFS (D1-3) score as follows (33):D1 (initial caries)Initial changes that are only seen in the enamel. These changes usually appear as white or brown spots and there are no cavities. This stage is reversible with good oral hygiene and fluoride use(Dentine Caries) D3 The decay has reached the dentin of the tooth. The cavities are clearly visible and the person may experience pain or sensitivity when chewing or eating hot or cold foods. (Treatment at this stage usually requires more extensive restorations (including fillings with stronger materials or the use of crowns) Advanced decay (decay) Decay has penetrated the pulp of the tooth and may cause infection or abscess, severe pain, and inflammation of the gums . Treatment includes root canal therapy (root canal treatment) or, in severe cases, tooth extraction.M in this index represents the number of missing surfaces and F represents the number of filled surfaces.DMFS surfaces considering the examination of 28 teeth will be as follows:16 posterior teeth 80 = 16 × 5 12 anterior teeth 48 = 12 × 4 Total surfaces = 128. | — |
