Intervention 1: Intervention group: Patients in this group receive 10 mg of escitalopram for 3 months in addition to standard stroke treatment, one month after ischemic stroke. Intervention 2: Control

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Ischemic stroke based on CT scan and MRI findings Full consciousness ability to speak

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Old brain parenchymal lesions Evidence of a history of cognitive impairment and dementia prior to stroke Obvious thyroid disorders History of recent use of SSRIs, MAO inhibitors, TCAs, SNRIs History of serious side effects after taking SSRIs

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Cognitive performance status before and after intervention based on the MOCA questionnaire. Timepoint: Before the intervention begins and after it ends. Method of measurement: MOCA questionnaire.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Checking the level of depression. Timepoint: Before the intervention begins and after it ends. Method of measurement: Hamilton Depression Inventory.
