Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Children aged five to eight years old. Children who have had a primary first molar extracted in either jaw for therapeutic reasons and require a space maintainer.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Children whose mouth opens less than 15 mm. Children who have a score of 1 or 2 in the Frankel classification (child behavior assessment index).

| The level of child acceptance regarding the intraoral scanning process and conventional impression-taking method. Timepoint: Immediately after the conventional impression process or digital scanning. Method of measurement: Based on the patient's rating of the factors "discomfort in breathing", "discomfort in hot and cold", "gag reflex", "pain level", "mouth taste discomfort", and "overall feeling" in the questionnaire designed with the visual analogue scale index modified for children.;The effectiveness of the space maintainer fabricated using intraoral scanning and conventional impression method. Timepoint: After the cementation of the space maintainer and 3 months after that. Method of measurement: Based on the rating of the pediatric dentist for the three main factors affecting the effectiveness of the space maintainer. These three factors are: interference of the space maintainer with occlusion, fit with the edentulous ridge and distal surface of the canine tooth, and the buccolingual width of the loop. | — |
