Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children from one to ten years old weighing at least five kg Based on the hospital triage algorithm using the ESI method they are classified at level three candidates for elective surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Known hypersensitivity/allergic reaction to local anesthetics or ketamine Chronic underlying disease (including diabetes, immunodeficiency, peripheral neuropathy, glaucoma and eye injuries, active respiratory infection, as well as known psychiatric and mental disorders) Lack of informed consent of the child's parents to enter the study

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Easiness of vein cannulation. Timepoint: When the patient was placed on the operating room bed. Method of measurement: 4-point scale of ease of venipuncture.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Separation anxiety from parents. Timepoint: When they are separating from parents before entering the operating room. Method of measurement: The child's degree of anxiety when separated from the parents is registered and graded using a 4-point scale, which is called the parental separation anxiety scale. Score 1 means the ease of separating the child from the parents, score 2 means sobbing during separation, which is easily stopped. Score 3 means loud crying that can hardly be stopped but without hugging the parents and not letting them go, score 4 means crying loudly and hugging the parents and not letting them go.;The number of attempts to doing vein cannulation. Timepoint: Until successful vein cannulation (up to three attempts). Method of measurement: Counting.;Side effects such as nausea, vomiting, agitation, etc. Timepoint: Continuously.
