Management of postoperative pain in opium addicted patients.

Interventions

Intervention 1: Intervention group: received 1.5mg/Kg IV lidocaine (Caspian Co.), 30mg/Kg IV magnesium (Pastor Ins.) and 0.3mg/Kg IV Ketamine (Exir Co.) diluted in 50cc normal saline 0.9% in 15 minute

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Consent to participate in the study Distal radius fracture confirmed by radiologic study Opium addiction history (At least 1gram per day to 5 gram per day) American Society of Anesthesiologists Class I,II

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Surgery duration more than 2 hours Bleeding during operation leading to transfusion Hemodynamic instability during operation leading to utilizing medicine for controlling blood pressure History of cardiovascular diseases

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Postoperative pain using visual analogue scale (VAS). Timepoint: In recovery unit and 3, 6, and 12 hours after surgery. Method of measurement: Evaluation of nurses of recovery unit and ward based on VAS score (0-10).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Side effects of analgesics (Shivering, nausea, vomiting). Timepoint: In recovery unit. Method of measurement: Based on evaluation of anesthesia nurse (Qualitative).
