Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Parent's consent to participate in the study Children 3 to 7 years old with empyema

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Critically ill and intubated patients Patients treating with corticosteroids due to other diseases

Length of Hospitalization. Timepoint: Number of days in hospital. Method of measurement: Admission to discharge documents.

MeasureTime frame
Oxygen saturation. Timepoint: Before and 48 hours after the administration of Dexamethasone. Method of measurement: Pulse oximeter.;Duration of chest tube placement. Timepoint: Before and 48 hours after the administration of Dexamethasone. Method of measurement: Patient records and clinical observations.;C-Reactive Protein.
