Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants must have experienced at least one major ankle sprain occurring 12 months or longer before the study Persistent sensations of instability and/or episodes of the ankle giving way. Achieve a score lower than 24 on the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT) Achieve a score lower than 90% of the possible points on the activity of daily living subscale of the Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) questionnaire. Achieve a score below 80% of the possible points on the sport subscale of the FAAM questionnaire

Exclusion criteria: History of disease that disturb balance Taking medications that affect balance History of lower limb musculoskeletal injury History of lower limb fracture History of lower limb surgery

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Center of pressure excursion in the single-leg stance test on the force plate. Timepoint: Before, immediately after, and four weeks after wearing the orthoses. Method of measurement: Single leg stance on force plate (force plate: model 9260AA6 with 600×500×50 mm dimensions).
