Interventions

Intervention 1: Intervention group: Vitamin D. This would be given in two oral doses of 200000 IU each, to be taken at weeks 0 and 4. Intervention 2: Control group: No Vitamin D.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients satisfying National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III criteria for metabolic syndrome

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Current use of lipid lowering drugs Use of vitamin D supplements in the last 6 months Hypothyroidsim Pregnancy Chronic kidney disease stages 3- 5 Cholestatsis Nephrotic syndrome
