MeasureTime frame
Fasting plasma glucose: Plasma glucose level after 8 hours of fasting. Timepoint: Fasting plasma glucose measurements will be performed at the beginning of the study and then every month for up to 3 months. Method of measurement: Plasma glucose was measured after an 8-hour fast in the hospital's central laboratory on the same day of sample collection using an autoanalyzer using a glucose kit (Pars Azmoun, Iran) via enzymatic colorimetry with the glucose oxidase method. The intra- and interassay coefficient of variation for glucose measurement was 2.2%.;Glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c): The amount of glycosylated hemoglobin in the blood, as a percentage, measured by chromatography after 8 hours of fasting. Timepoint: Serum glycated hemoglobin levels will be measured at baseline and third month. Method of measurement: Glycated hemoglobin was measured by chromatography (Audicome company, China).;Postprandial glucose: Glucose levels are measured two hours after eating the first bite of food. Timepoint: It will be measured three times a day at the beginning of the study and three times a week for 3 months. Method of measurement: Accu-Chek Performa gluco-meter (Roche company, Germany) was used to measure patients' glucose level at home.

Diabetes mellitus control (yes/no) Diabetes mellitus control: According to American Diabetes Association Guideline , the amount of PG, (in all measurements) and Glycated Hb should be in the following amounts: Diabetes with strict control: Glycated Hb less than 6.5 percent, Fasting plasma glucose equal to 70-130 milligrams per deciliter, Post prandial glucose less than 140 milligrams per deciliter. Diabetes with relative control: Glycated Hb less than 7 percent, Fasting plasma glucose equal to 70-130 milligrams per deciliter, Post prandial glucose less than 180 milligrams per deciliter. Uncontrolled diabetes: Glycated Hb equal or more than 7 percent, Fasting plasma glucose equal or more than 130 milligrams per deciliter, Post prandial glucose equal or more than 180 milligrams per deciliter. Timepoint: This outcome will be assessing at baseline and third month. Method of measurement: It will be performed by examining fasting plasma glucose levels, 2 hours postprandial glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels according to the American Diabetes Association guidelines (Standard Diabetes Care Guidelines 2026).
