Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients referred to the orthodontic department of the School of Dentistry of Tehran University of Medical Sciences who were in the age range of 12 to 16 years. Patients participate in the study voluntarily. signing Consent by parents

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: They had a physical disability. having systemic or underlying disease witch causing gingival or dental problems taking certain medications

MeasureTime frame
Changing gingival index with a predetermined criterion of 0.5 unit. Timepoint: Registration of gingival index before and 1 month after the intervention. Method of measurement: Examination and registration of clinical index.;Changing of plaque index with a predetermined criterion of 0.4 unit. Timepoint: Registration of plaque index before and 1 month after the intervention. Method of measurement: Examination and registration of clinical index.

Brushing time with a predetermined standard at least twice a day. Timepoint: record the number of brushing times before and 1 month after intervention. Method of measurement: oral health information checklist.;Flossing with a predetermined standard at least twice a day. Timepoint: record the number of flossing before and 1 month after intervention. Method of measurement: oral health information checklist.;Frequent consumption of sweet snacks with a predetermined standard up to twice a day.
