Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children 4-6 years old Children hospitalized in internal wards who have orders for intravenous catheter placement or conditions requiring intravenous catheter replacement Children who have had a peripheral venous catheter inserted within the previous two weeks.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children with neurocognitive disorders, including children diagnosed with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, phenylketonuria, attention deficit disorder, etc. Children with a Glasgow Coma Scale score lower than 15 Children for whom catheter placement was not successful the first time.

MeasureTime frame
Pain and Fear. Timepoint: Before and after the intervention. Method of measurement: the child’s pain and fear levels in both the control and intervention groups will be measured using the Wong-Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale and the Children’s Fear Scale during Procedural Pain.
