Interventions

Intervention 1: Control group: Topical diclofenac 1% used three times daily for 2 weeks. Intervention 2: Intervention group: topical Meloxicam 1% used 3 times daily for 2 weeks.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age over 40 years old Primary osteoarthritis Pain for more than half of the previous month during one of the following activities: walking, climbing stairs, standing up or sleeping on a bed or mat during the night Radiographic evidence confirms tibiofemoral or patellofemoral osteoarthritis Score 40 on a WOMAC scale as a basis.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: No intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid / glucocorticoid over the last six months No positive pregnancy test or pregnancy plan during the study

Joint range of motion. Timepoint: At baseline and 7 and 14 days after starting topical meloxicam and topical diclofenac. Method of measurement: Western ontario and mc master universities osteoarthritis index and Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score.;Pain. Timepoint: At baseline and 7 and 14 days after starting topical meloxicam and topical. Method of measurement: Western ontario and mc master universities osteoarthritis index and Visual Analogue Scale and Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score.;Inflammation. Timepoint: At baseline and 7 and 14 days after starting topical meloxicam and topical.
