Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Physiologic entity of gingival pigmentation Medium to severe hyperpigmentation based on Dimmitt-Gupta index (DOP) Plaque index less than 20%

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Medical history which affects the process of tissue healing Background or environmental factors as etiology of hyperpigmentation such as endocrine disorders or smoking Pregnancy or breast feeding Thin biotype of periodontium Acute gingival or periodontal disease

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Area of pigmentation. Timepoint: Before the procedure, 1 and 6 months after the procedure. Method of measurement: Taking standard photographs and then quantifying area of pigmentation using Gridlines option in Microsoft Paint software.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Amount of gingival recession. Timepoint: Before the procedure, 1 and 6 months after the procedure. Method of measurement: Distance from gingival margin to Cemento Enamel Junction.
