Interventions

Intervention 1: Intervention group: Psychological preparation was performed by a psychiatric resident in a separate room 2 to 3 hours before colonoscopy
after evaluating the concerns, the amount of information and the beliefs of the patients of colonoscopy in three domains: information, cognitive and behavioral the interventions were done as follows:

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 18-80 years old Farsi language conversation skills Ability to communicate verbally Lack of previous experience in colonoscopy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Dementia Mental retardation Obvious physical problems that interfere with the consultation A history of major psychiatric disorders Decline to participation

Anxiety. Timepoint: 3-5 days before colonoscopy, After psychological preparation. Method of measurement: Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) questionnaire.
