Conditions

Gestational diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus arising in pregnancy

Interventions

Intervention 1: Intervention group: One capsule alpha-lipoic acid (100 mg) per day for 8 weeks. Intervention 2: Control group: One capsule placebo cellulose acetate (100 mg) per day for 8 weeks.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: No history of gestational diabetes mellitus Not consumption of vitamin and mineral supplements during the last 6 months

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Preeclampsia Insulin therapy Oral glucose lowering drugs consumption Bed rest Alcoholism smoking
