Intervention 1: Intervention: 300 mg thiamin in 500 cc normal saline prior to initiation of surgery. Intervention 2: Control: 500 cc normal saline prior to initiation of surgery.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: patients candidate for CABG; Ejection fraction 45-55 %; no sensitivity to thiamin; no alcohol dependency. Exclusion criteria: renal or liver failure; CNS complications; post-surgical infections or massive hemorrhage.

MeasureTime frame
Serum level of lactate. Timepoint: prior to surgery, every 2 hour during the surgery, 6, 12, 18 and 24 hour after surgery. Method of measurement: laboratory assessment of serum level of lactate.;Ejection fraction. Timepoint: prior to and 24 hour after surgery. Method of measurement: echocardiography.

MeasureTime frame
Serum level of creatinin. Timepoint: prior to, every 2 hour during the surgery, 6, 12, 18, 24 hour after surgery. Method of measurement: mg/dl.;ABG. Timepoint: prior to, every 2 hour during the surgery, 6, 12, 18, 24 hour after surgery. Method of measurement: %.;Inotrope consumption. Timepoint: during the surgry until 24 h after.
