Interventions

Intervention 1: infusion of dexmedetomidine hydrochloride as 0.5µg/kg/h diluted in normal saline. Intervention 2: same volume of normal salin as dexmedetomidine group.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: Patients with femoral shaft fracture who were candidates for elective surgery under general anesthesia; between 15 and 55 years; ASA Class I, II Exclusion criteria: positive history of any cardiac or hepatic problem; addiction to any specific drug; using anti hypertensive, psychiatric, agonist or antagonist a-2 receptor agents; basal heart rate less than 60/min; pregnant patient; patients who had blood loss of more than 1 liter during surgery; patients for whom the time of operation took more than 3 hours

Primary

MeasureTime frame
NT pro BNP. Timepoint: before induction and 24 hours after surgry. Method of measurement: blood level.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Systolic blood pressure. Timepoint: every 30 min from induction until end of surgry. Method of measurement: based on mmHg.;Diastolic blood pressure. Timepoint: every 30 min from induction until end of surgry. Method of measurement: based on mmHg.;Pulse rate. Timepoint: every 30 min from induction until end of surgry. Method of measurement: per minute.
