Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: Age 18-35 years; within 30-40 weeks of normal pregnancy; maternal body mass index in the normal range (19.8 <BMI <29); cephalic presentation; normal amniotic fluid and fetus; singleton pregnancy; education at least fifth grade primary school and no history of infertility nor acute; chronic cardiovascular and systemic diseases; edema in feet up to knee with (+) or (++) ; lack of bed rest; absence of psychological problems; pre-eclampsia and eclampsia; no drug use but iron and vitamins; non-existence of wound and skin lesions at massage site; no massage prior to entering the study; no drug abuse and pain limited to sole and ankle but not generalized pain from other organs. Exclusion criteria: Specific drug or diet to relieve pain and edema during the study; emergency cesarean or termination of pregnancy by natural childbirth; injury or serious damage in the lower legs and preeclampsia during the study nor other forms of complementary medicine to reduce edema and lack of participation in all massage sessions and foot surrounding assessment.
